Privacy Policy for R370 Status Check App

SRD Check for SASSA R370 (“the app”) is an independent, unofficial status checker for the SASSA SRD R370 grant. It is not operated by, affiliated with, or endorsed by SASSA or any government body.

What the app collects, and where it goes

To check your grant status, the app asks for your 13-digit South African ID number and the mobile number you used to apply. When you press “Check status”, these two values are sent over a secure (TLS) connection to:

  1. SASSA directly (srd.sassa.gov.za) — the default route; or
  2. our forwarding server (api.sassa-status.web.za) — used only when SASSA cannot be reached directly. This server forwards your request to SASSA verbatim, stores nothing, keeps no logs of your details, and strips identifying headers before forwarding.

Your details are used for the sole purpose of retrieving your status from SASSA. We do not save, log, sell, or share your personal information — anywhere, ever.

What stays on your phone

  • If you tick “Remember on this phone”, your ID and mobile number are stored in your phone’s encrypted secure storage only. They never leave the device except inside a status check you initiate. You can delete them at any time in Settings → Remembered ID numbers.
  • Your last successful result is cached on the device so you can see it while offline. Deleting a remembered ID also deletes its cached result.

Notifications

  • Monthly payday reminders (15th and 20th) are scheduled locally on your phone. No server is involved and no data about you exists anywhere.
  • The app uses Firebase Cloud Messaging for occasional broadcast announcements (e.g. “SASSA changed payment dates”). This relies on an anonymous device token generated by Firebase; we attach no personal data to it, and we cannot identify you from it.

No accounts, no ads, no tracking

The app requires no sign-up, shows no ads, and contains no analytics or tracking of any kind.
