- An applicant must be a citizen of South Africa.
- An applicant must be a resident of South Africa.
- An applicant must be between 18 and 59 years of age.
- An applicant must belong to a disadvantaged background.
- An applicant must have a medical report confirming that he has a severe disability.
- The medical report proving severeness of disability should be older than 3 months.
- An applicant must not earn more than the income threshold of SASSA.
- The income threshold for unmarried people is R86,280 and for married people, it is R172,560 annually.
- The asset threshold for unmarried people is R1,227,600 and for married people it is R2,455,200
- An applicant must not be cared for in the State Institution.
- An applicant must not take social grants from any other institute.
Required Documents
- You need to provide an ID document.
- You are required to fill out an affidavit and this must be done in the presence of the Oaths Commissioner. (The commissioner should not be affiliated with SASSA)
- You need to provide a sworn statement signed by a respected person, such as a counselor or social worker, to confirm the age and name.
- You need to submit a report on your disability issued by a working medical professional which should be not older than 3 months.
- If you are married then provide the Marriage Certificate.
- If you are divorced, then provide a Divorce Decree.
- You need to provide proof of residency.
- You need to provide a bank statement which should be not older than 3 months.
- If your partner has passed within 5 years then provide a death certificate.
