Why is My SASSA Money Not in?

Each SASSA grant beneficiary receives a payment on a different date. If SASSA failed to send you a payment by a specific date, there would be multiple reasons. Below are the details. 

• If anyone did not receive the payouts on the payout dates, SASSA may not have processed the payments. Payments will be sent to SASSA shortly.
• If you normally receive payments through the post office branch, SASSA will delay your transactions. The agency reports that some post office branches do not have enough cash for payments.
• If you are a beneficiary of a Social Grant, the agency may delay your transactions. Their cash pay points are experiencing some problems beyond their control, they say.

How can you appeal for the SASSA for the R370 SRD grant online at srd.sassa.gov.za/appeal?

Another simpler way to submit an appeal to Sassa is through their website’s online portal.

1. If you do not wish to visit Sassa’s office, you can submit your appeal online. You will need to visit the Sassa website (srd.sassa.gov.za) on your device.
2. Then you need to search for the appeal icon, when you open it, you need to move a little down the page.
3. There will be a bar in green color stating ‘lodge an appeal’. You need to click on that bar for the appeal submission page to open.
4. After clicking on the bar, a new page will open on the screen. On this page, you will be asked to provide your identification number and phone number. It is critical that you add the phone number that was present on your grant application.
5. Adding any other number will result in the appeal getting rejected. After adding the numbers, click on the button that says ‘send pin’. You will receive a pin number on your phone in a few minutes.
6. Once you receive the pin number, add it to the page and click on the submit button. After this, you will be asked to select a month of appeal. When you select the month of appeal, you will also be asked to submit the reason behind the appeal.
7. Once all of the information has been added to the form, you can click on the ‘submit’ button. Your appeal request has been submitted to Sassa.

• Then, you have to provide your identity card number and your mobile number for the SASSA status check.
• Remember that the phone number and ID number you are entering are the same ones you used when applying for the grant.
• As soon as you click on check status, after fulfilling the columns, you will see the response from the grant application status for 2024.

2. SRD Payment Dates Via SMS

Checking status via SMS is another method. To do that, you must use your mobile’s messaging application.

• Open the mobile phone messaging app and type STATUS <space> ID number.
• Make sure to provide the ID number that you have used while applying for the grant.
• Recheck the message and send the message to 32555.

3. Check SASSA Status Via WhatsApp Method

This is another easy online method that you can use to check the status. This is the WhatsApp method and it doesn’t require airtime, just an active Wifi connection.

4. Now open your WhatsApp account on your mobile and refresh your contacts.

• First, open your device’s app store and type ‘MoyaApp.’
• Next, download the latest version of the application on your device, then click on it in the ‘downloaded files’ on your phone; you will get a prompt to install the app; click on it.

Why is my SASSA Status Pending?

If you receive an SRD grant status check response as “Pending,” that means your application is in the process right now. It is still being verified, and the organization is working on verifying your application and documents.

SASSA Status Check Declined Meaning

If your status check response says “Declined,” your SRD application is declined. Your application is no longer in the approval or processing stage. Instead, it has already declined, and there would be numerous reasons.

What does Referred mean on SASSA Status?

I once got “referred” status on my SASSA application, and trust me, it was more confusing than a simple “approved” and “declined” application status.

In simple words, the referred SASSA status application means that the application is sent to other departments for further verification. Once that department verifies the information on the application, it will then make a final decision on whether it is approved or rejected.

Moreover, not all applications get this referred status. The department randomly selects an application when they find out several complaints are registered against the applicant.

So, to ensure the authenticity and rule out any possibility of fraud, SASSA sends the application for internal verification and then makes a decision.

Identity Verification or SASSA Status Check Failed

In case you see the status check response as “Identity Verification Failed,” that means your identity information does not match the information in the “Department Of Home Affairs” database. You have to make sure to provide genuine information without mistakes or false information and errors.

This is because your identity information should be the same as in the DHA’s database. To avoid such problems, you have to make sure to provide information similar to that of the DHA.

Period Pending Meaning

“Period Pending” status check response means that your application is pending verification by SRD, and your application is currently not being processed.

Period Approved Meaning

If you see a “Period Approved” status check response, this status indicates that your application has been approved for the period. This means you will receive your SRD payment very soon because your application has been approved for this month.

Period Declined Meaning

If you see a “Period Declined” status check response when you check SRD application status, this means that your payment for this month has been declined, and you will receive your payment from the next month. Well, no need to worry because it is only for one month.

Why is My SASSA R370 Still Approved but with No Payment?

The status of ‘approved’ indicates that all requirements and checks have been completed, and you are eligible for the grant. It does not mean the funds have been released (yet).

If you want to know if money has been issued to you, look for a ‘payment pending’ and then a ‘paid’ status. The only time you should be concerned is if the status ticks over to ‘paid’ without receiving your money.

Their USSD service or website allows you to track payment status. If you have concerns, you can also contact the SASSA hotline or visit an SASSA office.

Means Income Source Identified Meaning

If you have checked your SRD R370 application status and you see “Means Income Source Identified” as your status response, the organization has got to know about your monthly income. And your monthly household income isn’t under the limits.
